Slovenia – So what’s it like?

Right in the heart of Europe, Slovenia is a land of lakes, mountains, cities, coastline and stories.

Slovenia has a wealth of tradition and culture. Explore the medieval castles of Lake Bled and Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana. Come to hear tales of the legendary Zlatorog – the golden-horned buck who roams the Triglav Mountains close to Kranjska Gora. Scale the peaks and passes of Vogel and Vršič, take a refreshing dip in Lake Bohinj or go underground to the Postojna Caves. Visit Lipica and its iconic white horses or simply head to Portorož and Piran for a taste of Slovenia’s 43km of coast.

With influential neighbours – Italy, Austria and Croatia – Slovenia has become a melting point of cultures that definitely shows in the architecture, cuisine and hospitality all across the country.

Slovenia also produces some wonderful wines, which they like to keep for themselves. Not many are available on the UK market.

It might be one of Europe’s smallest countries and have only been independent since 1991 – but we’re sure that you’ll discover that what Slovenia lacks in size and age, it certainly makes up for in diversity and history. To get a really good idea of all that is available, click on the link here
