Joanne Cave

Joined IT Graduate Programme in September 2014 and is
about to ‘graduate’ from the scheme

Jo Cave croppedI felt like the IT Graduate Programme would open many doors and provide me with interesting and challenging experiences – and I haven’t been wrong there. IT at TUI is the backbone of business operations and all other departments depend on us to deliver, whether it’s a web release delivering exciting new functionality to users, upgrading our core systems or implementing innovative ways for customers to purchase, upgrade and add extras onto their holidays, there is never a dull moment!

Over my two years on the graduate scheme I’ve worked across Portfolio Management (PMO & Business Analyst), E-Commerce and IT Engineering – in these placements I’ve been responsible for delivering web releases into live, worked as a Scrum Master, managed risks and issues on live IT projects and defined requirements for a brand new cruise ship. I’ve developed specific skills and qualifications in Business Analysis, where I completed some BCS external training, and while I’ve been gaining exposure of key business areas such as Thomson Cruises, Thomson Airways, Digital and Marketing I’ve also honed my stakeholder management, analytical, influencing and leadership skills.

Overall I’ve had a fantastic experience, I learned more than I ever imagined and I’m now in a great position  with all this in my back pocket to transition into my full-time role off the grad scheme – where I will be working as a Digital Product Owner.
