TUI is investing heavily in the application of data and artificial intelligence as a key competitive advantage to drive market leading personalised customer experiences. The successful Lead Data Scientist will sit at the heart of this, leading the creation and roll-out of industry leading predictive models to drive key strategic and investment decisions across the business. Using internal and external customer data in an innovative way you will provide meaningful customer insights and recommendations to business stakeholders through segmentation and modelling to support CRM and the wider business strategy.
The Lead Data Scientist role will be part of the Marketing Data Science team and work on key strategic projects to drive our customer personalisation strategy. This role will be pivotal in optimising our CRM contact strategy, which in email alone makes half a billion contacts with customers each year. We are progressing in both Cloud technology and automated decision making using our wealth of customer data and this is a fantastic opportunity to play a key part in shaping a programme that has the potential to revolutionise our business.
As part of our move to a Big Data platform the successful candidate will also take overall responsibility for our modelling capability; working collaboratively with colleagues across IT and Group to ensure models can be automated in a production environment, are accurately deployed and we have the ability to effectively manage performance on an on-going basis.
This role is based in our fantastic and vibrant office in Luton and we are also able to offer a flexible approach to working where you will have the opportunity to work from elsewhere 2 days a week.
As a Lead Data Scientist you will proactively identify business problems and investigate our vast data sets to take an idea from inception through to implementation. Solutions will be innovative and make use of sophisticated algorithms but have a transparency that still allows user control and implementable in a way that allows clear success measurement. With multiple and varied stakeholders you will have excellent communication and influencing skills to gain buy-in and confidently explain technical ideas in a non-technical way.
You should also be confident to demonstrate expected uplift and give recommendations based on your solutions in order to improve Customer experience, personalisation and the incremental benefit we are driving with CRM. You will be able to use advanced analytical methods and experimental design to determine or change business strategies, as well as support our move into a scalable Big Data environment and, ultimately, the delivery of automated decision-making.
The Lead Data Scientist will lead the strategy for future model development and play a key role in helping the team develop our data science capability. You will investigate how we can use previously untapped data sources and ensure that we have the tools in place to maximise the benefit we can drive into CRM. With the imminent move to our Big Data platform this is an exciting opportunity to be at the fore-front of our CRM strategy and influence the strategic direction of the team going forwards.
