The purpose of this role is to provide focus on the development and improvement of Engineering & Maintenance software systems and solutions for the management of the TUI Airlines fleet primarily with but not limited to AMOS, whilst ensuring software systems developments are in compliance with regulatory requirements for the continuing airworthiness and maintenance of aircraft across all markets. It will operate within a virtual team, based out of any market but with a requirement for regular European travel.

What you will be doing
As a Systems Development Engineer you will act as a subject matter expert, providing systems development expertise to all four TUI Airlines and seeking consistency across systems development, whilst ensuring that systems needs are met in a timely, controlled, and cost effective manner.
You will be responsible for maintaining and managing existing systems and databases used by the Engineering and Maintenance function, in particular AMOS. Additionally, it will be your responsibility to identify, assess, recommend and, as necessary, business case investment to deliver system enhancements to continuously improve the quality, reliability and efficiency of engineering and maintenance software systems and solutions. You will be a key support and participant within project activity transitioning existing AMOS data to consolidated databases and ultimately a single instance in support of the strategic direction of One Aviation Engineering and Maintenance. You will also be required to coordinate project activity to deliver a systems solution to aircraft document records taking into account the operational and regulatory needs of all internal and external stakeholders
On an ongoing basis you will control the deployment of system enhancements, fixes, updates and upgrades, identifying and managing all operational and regulatory implications of such changes. This will include the coordination and development of AMOS automated interfaces with other operational, financial and/or engineering and maintenance systems, such as aircraft document management solutions, Boeing Maintenance Performance Toolbox and financial control systems.
You will also be expected to support Fleet Programmes projects requiring expertise regarding AMOS and/or other engineering and maintenance systems, support the continuous improvement of End of Lease processes by developing and evolving aircraft document records system solution.
To deliver these responsibilities you will be required to establish mechanisms for systems change requests to be raised by users ensuring such requests are assessed and progressed in a structured manner with the support of One Aviation IT and external suppliers as necessary and to establish systems developments testing approaches, protocols and plans, coordinating with users to ensure robust testing activity and acceptance is undertaken ahead of system development deployments into the live environment. Similarly, you will need to develop strong working relationships with IT and finance business partners to successfully coordinate and deliver systems changes and developments.
You will be expected to maintain awareness of industry developments and best practice approaches to identify future possibilities for improved systems capability and efficiency, operating in a collaborative, credible and professional fashion at all times, true to the Company’s values.
You will need to identify, analyse and manage business and safety risks arising from fleet systems developments ensuring risk prevention and mitigation plans are in place and additionally you will undertake additional projects and any other reasonable tasks as and when required by the business.
What we are looking for
- Significant aviation systems experience, including AMOS, with a sound understanding of technical and operational impacts of systems delivery
- A self-motivated individual who takes the initiative and works collaboratively with a track record of successfully engaging with, and delivering to, multiple diverse stakeholders
- Sound project management ability and process experience
- Strong IT skills and experience of planning and implementing systems development and deployment
- Ability to operate within in a pan-European arena, with multiple customers and stakeholders across a range of source markets
- Financial acumen to understand, analyse and prepare cost implications
- A skilled communicator with the proven ability to influence and gain support and commitment from line managers and employees across the business
- Knowledge of SQL would be advantageous
- Solid understanding of the regulatory compliance required of E&M systems
- A logical thinker with the ability to generate ideas and alternatives
- Demonstrable ability to clearly articulate concepts and arguments verbally and in written documentation
This role requires strong business English (written & spoken) and will involve regular travel across Europe.
