Like many people I came out to Chamonix to do 1 winter season… 3 years later I still haven’t left! I joined the Office Operations Team as an Operations Executive responsible for Properties admin. I instantly fell in love with the fast-paced, varied environment of the office, as well as the outdoor and adventurous lifestyle of Chamonix.
Crystal has been great for developing my career. I left Southampton University with Bachelors in History, I then spent the next year learning French and eventually joined the Tour Operator business. I found myself at a loose end and decided to pursue a career in Travel & Tourism by joining Crystal Ski. Since then I have learnt more business French, worked in airports and visited a variety of ski resorts across the French Alps.
There isn’t really a ‘typical’ day for me (which I love!). My morning emails usually dictate how my day is going to turn out. I have catch ups with my team to help prioritise their workload and answer any questions. I then deal with a variety of resort queries sat in my inbox, liaise with our resort staff, UK and partner overseas teams to help ensure a consistent service across all countries. As a team we deal with everything from broken phones to staff work permits, so there is always a lot to do!
The final ‘thing’ which keeps me here year after year is Chamonix. It is a town more than a resort with events, nightlife and a constant buzz. It is known for the back country skiing and touring but there is a lot to offer on piste as well, with 4 different ski areas and Italy, Switzerland and many other northern alpine resorts within touching distance. In addition, Chamonix offers a wide variety of other sports such as cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, winter running….the list goes on.
It is an amazing place to live and having views of Mont Blanc on my morning commute isn’t that bad either.
