Finance Manager – Ireland
University course: Business Management
Year you finished the graduate scheme: 2018
What was your favourite thing about the TUI graduate scheme?
The variety of things you are given the opportunity to get involved in, ranging from business wide projects to various committees within finance. This not only gave me a strong understanding of the different parts of the business but also allowed me to meet a range of different people and learn from their experiences.
What does your current role involve?
My current role involves managing the P&L of our Irish business and business partnering the Irish Leadership team. I get involved in everything from trading forecasts to pricing our holidays, giving me a good understanding of how an end to end tour operator works.
What did you learn from being part of the graduate scheme and how did this prepare you for your future roles?
TUI is an incredibly fast paced environment and the graduate scheme is no exception to this. From day one you are thrown in at the deep end and given a large amount of exposure to senior employees. Being able to adapt in these situations and embrace the steep learning curve is one of my key takeaways from the graduate scheme. This made my transition off the graduate scheme much smoother as I was able to adapt and learn things quickly, allowing me to successfully embed myself within my new role.
What advice would you give to current students or graduates interested in working for TUI?
Do your research before applying to make sure your application really stands out and shows us a bit about your personality. If you reach the assessment centre, you’ll be able to see for yourself what a great place TUI is to work; the atmosphere in the office is great and everyone is really welcoming!
