University course: Economics at University of Exeter
Year you finished the graduate scheme: 2015
What was your favourite thing about the TUI graduate scheme?
I enjoyed the variety of roles and business areas I was able to work across and the link with the other TUI graduate leadership schemes which helped build a strong network.
What does your current role involve?
As Head of Operations Finance for TUI Airways I’m responsible for the management of a cost base in excess of £1bn. I business partner five of the Airline Board directors covering Customer & In Flight Supply Chain, Cabin Service Delivery, Operations, Flight Operations and Risk, Safety & Compliance. This includes everything from fuel and crew salaries to in-flight retail and ground handling, so there is never a dull day!
What did you learn from being part of the graduate scheme and how did this prepare you for your future roles?
I learnt from a variety of different styles of leadership and the importance of building effective teams which helped with the transition into my first role leading a team of my own.
What advice would you give to current students or graduates interested in working for TUI?
The travel industry is fast paced and dynamic and TUI is the industry leader. The people and their passion at TUI make it a fantastic place to come and work.
