Pilot Recruitment Process

Our Pilot application process consists of two or three stages depending on your experience and the role you are applying for:

Online Application

If you meet the criteria in the Pilot role checklist then you be asked to complete an online application form. You will be asked a series of questions including some ‘free text’ questions where you will be able to provide more detailed answers.

Assessment Centre

Our assessment centres are a great opportunity for us to meet you in person and for you to meet members of our Pilot Recruitment Team. Our Pilot Recruitment team consists of both Airline Head Office colleagues and current line Pilots with a variety of experiences, rank, fleet and service so you will get a real insight into what this role really involves.

We want you to think of our assessment centres as a two way process; it’s a chance for us to see if you display the relevant skills and behaviours that the role of a TUI Pilot requires and it is also an opportunity for you to decide if TUI is right for you. The assessment at East Midlands Training Centre will consist of a number of group and individual exercises including a role play and competency based interview. During the day there will be an opportunity to hear more about the company and the role as well as an opportunity to ask any questions you may have to the Pilot Recruitment Team.

If you are successful at our Assessment Centre, dependent on your level of experience we may require you to complete a further assessment as part of the process. This would be a simulator (SIM) check. Should you be required to complete a SIM check you will be given further details following the assessment day.

Keeping You Informed

We do try to keep you up to date with the progress of your application and we will share more information with you when you reach each stage of the selection process.

We receive a huge volume of applications on a regular basis and will work to process your application as soon as we can but please allow a minimum for four weeks from submitting your application for an update.

Once you have attended our Assessment Centre we aim to update you on your application in a minimum of 6 weeks. . Please be advised that any unsuccessful candidates are not eligible to reapply for a period of twelve months from the date of your last application.

Talent Pool

As a business, we start our recruitment campaign well in advance of our anticipated need. We take into account the training that may be required and  this means that we may have a period of time in which the successful candidates could be directed to our talent pool depending on the current business needs.

If you are successful at one of our assessment centres and we hope you will be, you will be placed into our Pilot Talent Pool. Reaching this stage means your skills and behaviours have matched our selection criteria and you have shown real passion for the role as a Pilot within TUI – You are now only one step away from joining Team TUI.

You will remain in our Pilot Talent Pool whilst we finalise our airport base requirements.  Please note that our offers are made in line with business needs which means that some bases and candidates may receive offers before others. As you can appreciate, the business is incredibly dynamic so unfortunately, if you are in our Talent Pool we cannot guarantee you a future position.  We’ll keep in touch when you reach this stage.
